Utilizing the Excel V Laser vascular treatment in a patient’s long-term care plan helps us target broken blood vessels, spider veins, and even rosacea. Because this laser specifically targets vascular and pigment concerns and lightens the skin, it can also be used for scars, bruising, and dark circles under the eyes.

The Excel V Laser is one of our favorite tools to use to help patients across Indiana with vascular, and pigment concerns. This technology uses 2 different wavelengths to target redness, veins, or broken blood vessels. Using the Excel V Laser, we can address red, purple, blue, and brown discolorations on the face and body and restore normal skin color. Depending on the patient, we may also choose the Excel V to improve rosacea, scars, bruising, or dark circles under the eyes.
We’re happy to say that most patients do not find our vein treatment with the Excel V Laser to be painful. In general, they describe the sensation as similar to that of the snap of a rubber band on the skin. During your consultation, your aesthetician will fully explain what to expect before, during, and after treatment to ensure that you feel prepared.
Our Excel V Laser does an excellent job treating discolorations associated with spider veins and reticular veins. However, it’s important to understand the difference between these types of veins and varicose veins.
Spider veins are small and wispy. Genetics, hormones, obesity, and a sedentary lifestyle can all contribute to the appearance of spider veins. They are usually less than a millimeter in diameter and are usually purple or red. Spider veins sometimes appear in clusters, which can sometimes resemble a bruise just beneath the skin. In general, patients do not report any pain or aching associated with spider veins.
Reticular veins are not much larger—perhaps 2 millimeters in diameter. These veins feed into spider veins and can also appear in clusters.
Varicose veins, however, are larger in diameter and usually look blue. They can also cause a bulge in the skin. Varicose veins usually appear when valves in the body are weakened or damaged. Everything from the natural aging process, hormones, pregnancy, genetics, obesity, and standing or sitting for long periods of time can all influence whether or not a person develops these veins. Varicose veins can sometimes cause aches and pains in and around the area they develop.
The specific wavelengths utilized by the Excel V Laser vein treatment are perfect for treating spider and reticular veins. During your consultation with Phases® Skin Care & Laser Center, we’ll address all of your areas of concern and determine which laser treatment is best for you. If you are concerned with any particular varicose veins, we can provide individualized recommendations on how to achieve your goals.
At Phases® Skin Care & Laser Center we understand that every patient is unique. During your initial consultation, we will give you an estimate of how many treatments we recommend to help you best achieve your aesthetic goals. Generally, a series of 3 to 6 treatments scheduled between 4 to 8 weeks apart will best address spider and reticular veins.
Each patient responds differently to Excel V Laser vein treatment. Some may experience side effects like temporary redness, swelling, increased sun sensitivity, or irritation for a few days after your treatment. Others don’t experience any side effects! During your consultation, we’ll talk through exactly what to expect after your laser treatment and how to address any particular side effects. For those patients that do experience side effects, most report that they subside within a few (1 to 3) days.
