What is the difference between microneedling and RF microneedling?

Microneedling is a popular treatment option at Phases. We use a device equipped with fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. This stimulates the body’s own healing response, prompting your skin to produce collagen and elastin—the building blocks of healthy, youthful-looking skin. RF microneedling (Secret RF, Vivace) takes the traditional microneedling process to a whole new level! This treatment heats the underlying layers of the skin to further stimulate collagen and elastin production. This means we are able to reach deeper layers of the skin than during a traditional microneedling appointment. This can produce even faster, more dramatic results that last longer than traditional microneedling.

When will I see results?

Some people notice rejuvenated skin after their first SkinPen treatment; however, optimal long-term results are best seen after four or more treatments. Ongoing skin improvements will continue for three to six months following the last treatment. As with similar treatments, results are greatly influenced by your lifestyle, sun exposure, diet, and the use of effective skin care products. That said, your aesthetician will personalize an at-home skincare regimen for you to help maintain your results long term.

How many treatments do I need?

For maximized results, we may recommend a series of 4 or more treatments, each scheduled 4 weeks apart. After completing your initial series, maintenance treatments will help sustain your results and keep your skin looking its best. During your initial consultation for microneedling in Carmel, we will make a personalized recommendation for the number of treatments you need. It may depend on your overall skincare goals, lifestyle, and budget. For example, if you want to treat deep acne scars or stretch marks, you may need more than four microneedling treatments to see optimal results.

Treatment

SkinPen microneedling treatments are designed to be as comfortable as possible. A numbing cream is applied before the procedure to minimize discomfort. SkinPen microneedling uses fine needles to create micro-openings in the skin that naturally remodel the skin. Patients typically feel light pressure and a mild buzzing sensation, with minimal discomfort.

After treatment, you may experience some redness and a feeling similar to a mild sunburn, which typically subsides within a day or two. Patients can resume normal activities within 24 hours, making it an easy treatment to fit into your routine.

SkinPen works by stimulating your skin’s natural healing process. It remodels skin without the use of chemicals, heat, or injections, leading to smoother, more youthful-looking skin over time. SkinPen’s results come from your body’s natural ability to remodel and renew the skin, offering a more natural and long-lasting improvement compared to other treatments.
