In some cases, grafts are required in order to achieve patients’ cosmetic or functional goals. Fortunately, our renowned surgeons can use septal cartilage inside the nose in many cases.
However, we may need to collect cartilage from the rib or ear if needed—to correct a previous rhinoplasty, for example. Rarely, we use other materials to perform a graft, but we will discuss your options during your consultation for a rhinoplasty in Indianapolis.
No. If you undergo a septoplasty at the same time as a rhinoplasty, we may place splints—small, plastic tubes—within the nose to support healing, but packing is not necessary. To keep these splints clear, so you can breathe easily through your nose, your surgeon will instruct you to use a nasal spray throughout recovery.
While you can expect excellent results within 3 to 4 weeks of your rhinoplasty in Indianapolis, deeper tissues continue to heal for months. Complete healing takes 6 to 12 months, at which point all swelling has subsided and your permanent results emerge.
