Medications, Supplements, and Herbal Products to Avoid Before and After Surgery

Patients should discontinue the use of the below medications for 14 days before and 14 days after all invasive (surgical) procedures, and 14 days prior to injection of fillers or Botox, in order to reduce bleeding and bruising.

For those taking prescription platelet-inhibitors or anticoagulants, such as Warfarin (Coumadin), Lovenox, Plavix, Eliquis, Brilinta, or any other prescription blood thinners or anti-inflammatory medications, you must get permission from your prescribing doctor before stopping these medications. Doing so without asking might cause unwanted risks and side effects.
