At Phases Skin Care & Laser Center, a premier medical aesthetic facility, we understand that choosing the right skin rejuvenation treatment can be overwhelming. With so many skin resurfacing options available, it’s essential to understand the differences between the different types of chemical peels and laser procedures to make an informed decision. Here, we compare these two popular treatments and highlight some of our specific services, including superficial, medium, and deep chemical peels, as well as several of our laser treatments such as BBL Hero, CoolPeel, Halo Laser, Laser Genesis, and Microlaser Peel.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels involve the application of a chemical solution to the skin, causing the damaged outer layers to exfoliate and eventually peel off. This process stimulates the body to create fresh, healthy skin. Chemical peels are categorized into three types:
Superficial Chemical Peels: Superficial chemical peels are the mildest form of chemical exfoliation. They target the outermost layer of the skin (epidermis) and are ideal for improving mild discoloration, fine lines, and rough skin texture. At Phases Skin Care & Laser Center, we use gentle acids like alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) for these peels, which require minimal downtime and are perfect for those seeking a quick refresh.
Medium Chemical Peels: Medium chemical peels penetrate deeper into the skin, reaching the middle layers (dermis). These peels effectively treat moderate skin issues such as sun damage, pigmentation, acne scarring, and more pronounced wrinkles. Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is commonly used for medium peels. Patients can expect a few days of downtime as the skin heals and reveals a more even and youthful complexion.
Deep Chemical Peels: Deep chemical peels offer the most dramatic results by reaching the deeper layers (lower dermal) of the skin. They are suitable for addressing severe sun damage, scarring, and significant pigmentation issues. Deep peels, which require a more extended recovery period with dryness, redness, peeling or flaking for up to 3 to 7 days, deliver long-lasting, transformative results.
Of note, chemical peels do not treat sagging skin, deep wrinkles, or deep scarring. Regardless of the depth of the peel you choose, at Phases, we believe in creating customized solutions to fit our patient’s individual needs in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. We will have a consultation to review your skin concerns, discuss pre and post care requirements, and see which chemical peel you are the best candidate for. Laser Treatments
Laser treatments, also known as laser resurfacing, use focused light energy to remove layers of skin with precision. This treatment stimulates collagen production and promotes the growth of new, healthy skin cells. Phases Skin Care & Laser Center offers several advanced laser peel options. We will start with a consultation to address your concerns and discuss the best laser peel procedure for your skin, as well as the number of visits recommended in order to achieve your skin goals.
BBL HERO™: BBL Hero (Broad Band Light) is a cutting-edge technology that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat a variety of skin concerns, including pigmentation, redness, and uneven texture. BBL is one of the most versatile, popular treatments to reverse the signs of aging anywhere on the body. This non-invasive treatment requires minimal downtime and provides noticeable improvements in skin clarity and tone.
CoolPeel CO2 Laser: CoolPeel is an innovative laser treatment that delivers the benefits of a traditional CO2 laser peel without the extended downtime due to using high energy in extremely short-pulses without the lingering heat that traditionally damage the surrounding skin – this lack of heat is why it is called a CoolPeel. It targets the superficial layer of skin in order to address sun damage, fine lines, and wrinkles, promoting collagen production and revealing smoother, more radiant skin. CoolPeel is perfect for those seeking effective results with minimal disruption to their daily routine.
Halo Laser: The Halo Laser is a hybrid fractional laser that combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to treat a wide range of skin concerns by stimulating collagen production and cell turnover. This dual-wavelength technology effectively assists in removing damaged outer layers of skin, addressing pigmentation, texture, enlarged pores, and fine lines while promoting collagen regeneration. The Halo Laser offers customizable treatment options with manageable downtime, making it suitable for various skin types and concerns. See some of our before and after photos here.
Laser Genesis: Laser Genesis is a non-ablative laser treatment that gently heats the dermis to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. It effectively treats redness, fine lines, and scars with no downtime. Laser Genesis is an excellent option for those concerned with an uneven complexion and seeking gradual, natural-looking improvements in their skin’s appearance.
Microlaser Peel: The Microlaser Peel is a precise, superficial laser procedure that gently removes the outermost layers of the skin by utilizing a laser that scans over the treatment area. Once the damaged cells are removed, new, healthy cells are able to resurface over the treated area. This treatment is ideal for improving fine lines, pigmentation, and skin texture with minimal downtime. The Microlaser Peel offers customizable depth options, allowing for tailored treatments and cost-effective pricing options based on your individual skin concerns and desired outcomes.
MOXI: MOXI™ comfortably delivers non-ablative laser energy to revitalize your skin by correcting initial signs of sun damage, rough skin texture, acne scars, and aging. Regardless of the season or your skin type, MOXI™ is designed to fit seamlessly into your lifestyle. This procedure allows you to achieve healthier, more youthful-looking skin without interrupting your daily routine.
